Kings Special Olympics Curlers Win

Kings Special Olympics curlers, based at Glooscap Curling Club in Kentville, sent three teams to Provincial Games this past February in New Glasgow. Competition was tough and after some early losses, they came home with gold, silver and bronze medals in the "C" division, a unique and noteworthy achievement. Furthermore, just recently it was learned that Special Olympics Nova Scotia has selected the "C" Provincial champions as the province's representative at the National Winter Games in Saint Albert (near Edmonton), Alberta next February 2012.

The bronze medal winners from Provincials are Skip, Tammy Hiltz; Mate, Evan Hiltz; Second, Brian Bruce; Lead, Darcy Marshall and Alternate Machelle Hubley. Silver winners Skip, John Robicheau; Mate, Susan Weaver; Second, Allan Williams and Lead Johanna Sutcliffe.     Gold winners and provincial reps at Nationals are Skip, Stephen Parkin; Mate, Tammy Schnare; Second, Bruce Lightle and Lead Becca Foster. John Robicheau has also been selected as the alternate player for Nationals.

In the picture below from left to right are bronze, silver, gold and group.
